Experts needed ! FaceBook offers the same sort of embedded video than YouTube, the code looks exactly the same but with FaceBook it doesn't work ... why ?
Example of YouTube code :
<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iDe4v318f64&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iDe4v318f64&hl ... fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Example of FaceBook code (edited to follow the YouTube example with some additional </param>) :
<object width="400" height="300" ><param name="movie" value="http://www.facebook.com/v/1110744722444 ... ram><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/111074472244497" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="300"></embed></object>
The space for the video is there in my message but not the video nor even its frame ... any ideas ?!

Here is what happens when I embed my FaceBook video :
<object width="400" height="300" ><param name="movie" value="http://www.facebook.com/v/1110744722444 ... ram><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/111074472244497" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="300"></embed></object>[/youtube]

I never had it enabled. ;-)

So I've added it now - much like the Youtube tags.... with a unique identifier, though make sure the permissons are set right for everyone to view!!

[facebook ]111074472244497[ /facebook]

(without the spaces)

Gives,

Thanks Foggy ! _b
I thought of the tags being wrong but didn't imagine it would have any influence ...
One more thing : any idea why I can't resize the video ? By default it comes embedded as 400x300 but the original video is 756x568 (something like that). If you click full screen it turns to **** as the rescaling screws everything ... :-k

Ok, I have changed the sizes to width="600" height="450". 756 width was too big for this forum template.

Return to standard time

Unread post by Willoughby »

Since I am tonight unable to force the change through the database, users will have to revert to standard time themselves via the UCP: http://www.weatherforum.org.nz/phpBB3/ucp.php?i=165

Thanks

Hi Nev, Fogs, Tony T, Charcolator...

Erm... I did try to do a post in Forum Talk first... but, I think the the forum gremlins are at it again... >_< 0_o

Anyhow... the intention for posting a message in FT was to show Nev, Fogs and Mods a screenshot of what I get when I try to do a post in my weather blog... or even on the FT... this is what I get!!!

I'll have to look into this one with phpBB support... I don't get why this only happens to you. It doesn't look like a style issue either.

Seems the site has the gremlins back the past day or two? Or is it just at my end?

The joys of colocation...
We apologize for the behaviour of the server.

The issue was traced to one particular site hosted in the server. At this
point in time, we cannot ascertain what type of activities in the site
contributed to the issue, but we have implemented a workaround to contain
the effects caused by the site's activities. We are now contacting with the
site's owner to ask for more information.

The matter is still undergoing investigation. We will get to the root cause
of the issue and implement a solution. Meanwhile, a workaround has been put
in place to prevent the site's activities from affecting the server.

We apologize again for the inconvenience caused, and we thank you for your
understanding.

Can somebody else please test an upload above 160kb on here?

Thanks!
Regarding the above...just tried to upload a 108KB file only to be told the limit is a measly 80KiB (is KiB the same as KB?)

Hey foggy. ive had to create a new account to log on. when trying to log on (when normally it is automatic) it says ive exceeded the number of log in attempts.

when trying to resend password (even though i know i have it correct) it says it cannot find anything related to my email address or user name. BUT when i tried to create a new account under jamie.h it says it is already taken.

so not sure what is going on here.

Hmmm, I had a similar situation where it said I had enter a captcha to login even though my password that I entered was correct.

Also of notice/mention: Quite a few forums have come under a dictionary attack for password authentication from bots.

This would explain that your username Jamie might have been used in a dictionary attack.
Foggy, Have a look at the forum logs and you should be able to see the accounts that have had numerous password authentication failures, from there you should be able to extract the IP address used.
See if it has come from the Russian Federation (a very very common place for this type of behavior)
If so you should be able to block a certain subnet from the ip addresses used.
