Re: General July Weather
At present it looks that way, but some GFS runs have thrown in a more direct southerly component. One to watch, or it could be nothing. It does look likely to be cold and windy at least, even if it doesn’t bring snow. Interesting model watching for me.

Re: General July Weather
Interesting that for the last few days YR.no have been suggesting a rather healthy dump of snow for Cardrona in the next few days but most other models suggesting a big deluge of rain right up to 2200m..

Re: General July Weather
Re Cadrona, Plenty of snow Monday with that colder airmass. Maybe some snow upper slopes Friday.
This weekends trough looks to have a lot of wind with it. North Island could get a good blow Sunday and squally Monday.

Re: General July Weather
A lot of weather inbound for the country over the weekend into early next week. Some severe wind for some regions. Lots of precip on the South Island West Coast.
The front over the upper North Island later Sunday could produce some severe gusts 130km/h. And then squally thunderstorms on Monday with localised severe wind/possible tornado.

Re: General July Weather
Below average temperatures here last two weeks, milder weather crossing NZ for the weekend.
A thunder chance here on Monday with the passage of the upper cold system.

Steady rain in Moana this morning, but nothing drastic by West Coast standards. Dry since lunch

Re: General July Weather
Stunning day today. Hit 17°C with a gusty NW'er.
Was a superb day with almost full sunshine.
Got some of the lawn mowed and went for a run in a short sleeved shirt. Both of these things haven't happened for quite some time.....

Re: General July Weather
Yes, it would be so.
Looking rather bleak towards the Mt. Peel/4 Peaks area this afternoon and beyond.
Wouldn't be surprised if there were a few lightning strikes in there.

Re: General July Weather
Plenty of lightning out to the W/SW this morning with cb's lighting up. Unfortunately the model trends are for storms to drop south of Auckland. Taranaki/Waitomo getting the best moisture today. Still, may catch a storm this morning over West Auckland.

Re: General July Weather
Surprised none of MS's four main Akld sites didn't quite get gusts above 70 km/h yesterday. Very blustery N-NW winds would have been considerably more than that here yesterday arvo/evening, probably peaking around 9pm.
