Re: General November Weather
Lovely, warm sunny day here today with a light easterly and temp touching 27C.
Very NW looking sky though and seems as if the NW is blowing higher up over us?

Looking bleak now, darkening to the SW and clouding over a bit now. Barometer down to 986hPa.

Good for wind generation, not so good for air traffic controllers

Re: General November Weather
Metservice was only showing light winds in Q'town at the time. Was it gusts on the approach putting them off or maybe a visibility problem?

Re: General November Weather
The NW winds finally come through at 3:30pm, but have eased back a bit from now.
Become CB-ish looking and looked as though there may of been a clap of thunder in the dark clouds moving north but nothing heard despte one or 2 sfrerics on the AM radio.
It is clear and sunny again.
Here's a photo I took today looking up along the inland foothills from the Geraldine Downs this afternoon.
I did notice that the Doppler at Rakaia was out of action for a brief period this afternoon.

Re: General November Weather
Heavy showers and a gusty westerly change at 1445 dropped the temperature from 20C to 13C in 7 minutes . Blizortung showed lightning in Foveaux Strait nothing at Thornbury . Quite nice outside as I type this at 1830 hours .Still windy though

Re: General November Weather
Wind has dropped away here.
Blue dome sky above now fading away as the sun has set.
Might as well be 1030hPa, instead of the current reading of 984.9hPa
