can see some cells showing on the radar now just to our southwest... and a great flood of chasers heading that way... have to find a good window in the terminal for a look!

We chased that storm quite late, got a couple of CG shots to come out of it... bit of a fizzer really today in Corrorarro.

Yep, the storm fizzled toward dusk. Put on a great CG show during early evening hours. There was quite a few storm chasers on it too, hoping for supercellular mode but the wind shear was too weak today for that to happen.

Remember to stretch those legs wandering around in the departure lounge, long flights after sitting around in the lounge are harder than if you stretched your legs (Not to mention DVT risk factors).

I have been admiring this piece of military hardware strung up at the RSA across the road. Its a Black Hawk.

Black Hawk is a meaner name though for a very mean looking machine. ;)

Should be more thunderstorms around today than yesterday due to low level moisture advection but weak upper level wind fields mean the threat of severe storms looks low. 300mb 10kts!

Will be moving up into western Nebraska today. Puts us in a better position for tomorrow too.

Driving up NE towards Nebraska on the I76 now, nice convergance line of T/Cu & odd Cb. 29°C / DP 11°C, here now.. getting a bit hot!

The RUC shifts the action a bit more westward this afternoon/evening up on the CO/NE border. Might wait in Big Springs and see what happens. :)

Foggy, we are on hold at Crook, I76 atm. Just watching things from here for a while but will likely keep heading N into Nebraska. Interesting to see the line of thunderstorms popping up just south of us over NE Colorado. Yes, the RUC is plotting CAPE 4000j/kg over the Ne/Co border by early evening. :D

Bit of a bust day today, storms were very junky. There was a small landspout type tornado reported , other than that I think most chaser will be disappointed with todays results.

Fingers crossed for a better tomorow!! :)

you must go and visit Wall Drug while in south Dakato....you simply must!
(its advertised for 100 of miles around it!)

i am thinking if you are on the right supercell tomorrow you may well get a tornado...make sure to get up on the wall cloud and go after a great tornado photo.....thats the important shot!

I don't think it'll be your "last chance to see funnels" EVER, tho... ;)

and indeed, tmrw looks pretty good:

CONCERNING THE SEVERE THREAT...MODEL FORECASTS MOVE A 60-70 KT
MID-LEVEL JET OVER THE NRN ROCKIES EWD INTO THE HIGH PLAINS MONDAY.
THE EXIT REGION OF THIS JET WILL LIKELY SPREAD ACROSS THE DAKOTAS
MONDAY AFTERNOON ENHANCING LIFT AND INCREASING VERTICAL SHEAR ACROSS
THE REGION. FORECAST SOUNDINGS ALONG AND JUST SOUTHEAST OF THE
FRONT...SHOW MODERATE TO STRONG VERTICAL SHEAR WHICH WILL LIKELY
SUPPORT SCATTERED SEVERE STORMS. HOWEVER...THE TIMING OF INITIATION
STILL REMAINS QUESTIONABLE DUE TO A CAPPING INVERSION THAT WILL BE
IN PLACE. THE GFS SOLUTION SUGGESTS INITIATION WILL BE LATER AS THE
FORCING WITH THE UPPER-LEVEL TROUGH COMES OUT INTO THE PLAINS IN THE
EVENING. THE NAM AND NAMKF SOLUTIONS INITIATE STORMS SOONER. ONE
THING IS CERTAIN...THE ENVIRONMENT WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR SUPERCELLS
WITH LARGE HAIL ONCE INITIATION OCCURS. IN ADDITION...LOW-LEVEL
SHEAR PROFILES ON FORECAST SOUNDINGS ALSO APPEAR FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES. THE GREATEST TORNADO THREAT SHOULD EXIST NORTHEAST OF THE
SFC LOW ACROSS NCNTRL SD AND ERN ND AS THE LOW-LEVEL JET INTENSIFIES
DURING THE EARLY EVENING. ALSO...VERTICAL SHEAR PROFILES SHOULD BE
SUPPORTIVE OF AN ISOLATED SEVERE THREAT SSWWD INTO WRN NEB AND FAR
NE CO. THE MOST LIKELY AREA FOR MCS DEVELOPMENT WILL BE ALONG THE
FRONTAL BOUNDARY IN THE EVENING DUE TO THE STRENGTHENING LOW-LEVEL
JET. THIS WOULD ALLOW THE SEVERE THREAT TO CONTINUE FOR MUCH OF THE
EVENING ACROSS THE NRN PLAINS REGION. AN UPGRADE TO MODERATE RISK
MAY BECOME NECESSARY IN LATER OUTLOOKS ONCE THE TIMING OF THE
UPPER-SYSTEM AND THUNDERSTORM INITIATION BECOMES MORE APPARENT.

...good luck!!!

Gusty warm southerly here, mostly cloudy and 28°C. :)

Looks a bit different back home!
