Yes I see that you guys may be getting some severe winds as well interesting though how NSW has had a dry warm spell after a reasonable amount of rain at the start of the year is that right Aussie2005?.
Overcast here from about mid afternoon and southerly winds slowly eased back as well then it started raining from about 9pm with moderate falls at first then eased to drizzle/light rain.
Here's the MS severe warnings cheers.
Valid: Mon 04 Apr to Thu 07 Apr
Issued: Sat 02 April 2005 at 02:28 pm

MetService expects an active cold front to move quickly northeast over southern and central New Zealand on Monday, preceded by a period of heavy rain in western areas and northwest gales in the east.
Forecasters now have high confidence of warning amounts of rain on Monday in Fiordland, southern Westland and near the Main Divide of the Southern Alps, but only low to moderate confidence for the ranges of northern Westland, Buller and northwest Nelson.

Also northwest gales are likely to gust to 120 km/h or more in some exposed areas of southern Fiordland and Southland on Sunday evening and Monday morning, and in exposed areas of Otago and Canterbury during Monday. A watch has been issued.

Northwesterly gusts could reach 120 km/h in parts of Marlborough, Wellington and Wairarapa on Monday afternoon or evening but confidence is low at this stage.

The front should be much weaker by the time it moves over the remainder of the country on Tuesday and is likely to be followed by a large high.

Hi Jasestrm
I am not sure about NSW but here in Melbourne and many other parts of the state it has been dry after the record rainfall on 3/2/05, in the last 8 weeks we have had 14 mm of rain.
Winds have moderated here this morning after a hot night, we will have just missed a overnight April maxima with the drop in the wind strength and some patchy rain, lowest till the abating wind was 25.6 at 5:00 am at 6:00 am 26.7° now 8:30 am, 2 hours after sunrise 18.9° and falling.
