Gisborne: 47mm
Whakatane: 26mm
Taupo: 13mm
Rotorua: 9mm

Edited at 10.30pm, now add 19mm for Rotorua, 11mm for Taupo, 15mm for Napier ;)

i see some big showers to the west of us, moving up into northland, this morning (6am)
and that fron is curly back up onto us, influenced by the tasman front....
its like watching paint swirls in a paint tin sometimes!

Been some weak thunderstorms out to west of Auckland/Northland this morning. Perhaps some convergence has triggered these.

Upper air is cooling off again over Auckland so day time heating would trigger a few cbs over the region. However, the weak front to our south looks like it is edging onto us which will cut out thermal heating. :(

As you predicted yesterday brian, looks like Auckland will get a mainly dry day today. Precipitation threat will be from isolated convective/convergence showers/thunderstorms.

NZstorm I could see those Cu/Cb's to the NW aswell this morning, they looked quite impressive. Attached is 7am radar.

One of these appeared to develop an anvil just in the time it took for me to get from west aucks to newmarket. I'm assuming that this is from some sort of convergence.

Anyhoo, guess will see what happens....i've got a good feeling about today (much like i did on wednesday)

Just found this too,.....from about 5:30 this morning.

Interesting hook structure of Kaipara.....is this a trough developing or is this sposed to be the warm front??

thats a great landcare sat image :)
just a narrow shower line go through....
but thats it
the warm front has fizzled
that cb line is moving onto the far north...with, yes, heavy rain in it...

it looks like a surge that arose from via cook straight...snuk up through there.....

so someone will is getting the heavy falls predicted
cant see much rain around....for the auckland area.,...but with the low to the east approaching east coast areas, maybe it will re fire things up ......
so who knows....what will happen today/tomorrow for this area...

My garden is still waiting for those occasional showers.

Some nice T Cu and Cb out to sea, small Cu over the land.
Ricki's photo shows them well.

Top shot ricky...thats the buggar!

did anyone see the really tall skinny towers that surrounded this Cb?

The ones I saw where about 3 times higher than they where wide!!

To me this indicates the atmospheres ability to allow uplift. The only thing that limits it from here is available moisture and any changes to the upper.

I see the high cloud coming in from the south now....i assume this will keep a lid on things today....but its early days yet

latest forcast
mainly fine weather...for next 4 days at least
so the forecast for rain, for the auckland area, overnigth and not clearning until this afternoon, was an error
maybe they should consult with locals....who know better

Winds are light and variable today once again and we're getting some good sun warming at present.

Sounds good :)

To note I just checked the ready charts, CAPE for Hamilton is at 625.0 and a LI of -1 almost circled over the Waikato Basin! I can't wait....!

Perhaps an early get away notice for AK storm chasers to head south!! :D

If a convergence got going I'm positive some storms would form in the Waikato this afternoon. From what I can see things look good for some convective storms. No upper level convergences to surpress things!

I guess if nothing forms it's due to lack of trigger!

Any towering Cu out there??
