We just got some hail here for about 5 minutes, about pea sze or maybe a bit smaller, came down good.

Those scferix John must be coming from some distant lightning because the lightning map shows nothing near us, except from that one lone strike from the other night.

You'll get your money Burrows!! Next storm Chase!! lol........... Or alternatively next time you come round or whatever. :D

yup
auckland airport has been averaging 28 kts most of the time lately (51kmh)

but the wind has not been quite as strong as i thought it would have been here....judging by the isobars...

we had a few power cuts which stopped my weather station updates....i am going to put in a battery backup....

No hail or much else to note on the western side of chch just strong southery winds! Hail must have only passed by the port hills, sumner etc...

What the weather is up too as at 10:25 am.

Bleak day out on Banks Peninsula with frequent showers continuing through today with gusting up to gale southerlies/southwesterlies and a bit more hail in the morning. Snow level at about 300 metres early morning, but retreating with the rain. Coming back to Chch late this arvo, I noticed the showers ended after about Little River and the road was dry from about Birdling's Flat. Looks like this stormy weather has been confined to the outer peninsula.
