Another cloudy, drizzly day here in Wellington. Summer just hasn't arrived for us.

Re: General February Weather
Dew point temp around 19C making for sultry conditions, easily our warmest day of the year.

in contrast, cloudy periods (low cloud) has meant only a high of 24.6 here (which is the warmest day since December here)

29.9C again today at Rickys Grey Lynn. Odd to get that reading two days in a row considering 30C has never been recorded in the weather station history.

no ceiling on the data..i.e it has not flat lined at 29.9
(the graph scale will auto scale once above 30 and or that scale can be set in the software)

Re: General February Weather
check out METVUW 16-20 Feb. Looks like an end to this upper level fest moving troughy/ridgey stuff from the West. The next step is to try and believe it will actually occur !!!. Still 25 here outside [Tepuna] very humid though I think the humid layer is quite shallow. Deep convection unlikely tomorrow good steady rain on the cards,[the kind you can hear on the roof] looking forward to it.

Re: General February Weather
25C around midnight but it cooled down to be a rather overcast and cold day for February here.
Boring really with a light NE developing.
Temperature not getting much more than 15C.

MetVUW simply displays the same free GFS model as many other sites, yet many people on Facebook seem to think that Vic Uni is a forecasting agency, and even criticize it as such… lol

Hopefully we'll get some good rainfall here overnight? GFS showing ~30mm for central Auckland.

General February Weather
Not sure I see that happening. In saying that we do keep getting huge sporadic rain drops falling with no cloud feature above us (all very elevated convection).Nev wrote:MS have a 'Severe Thunderstorm Watch' out for northern Waikato this arvo…

Re: General February Weather
The instability is shallow over the Waikato.
Coromandel and eastern North Auckland will get a good soaking overnight/morning due orographic enhancement. But Auckland city will largely miss out.
