General February Weather
Models starting to be consistent with a hot spell over the country early next week. Temps could reach 35C in some eastern locations according to model output.

Re: General February weather
The highest 850hpa temps I can see early next week is 20C so that would certainly translate into 35C under the right conditions for eastern areas...

Re: General February Weather
Persistent frontal and trough activity over the lower S Is should keep the warm weather coming in up north. Another 2 weeks on the cards here with no rain and 26/27 deg days/little cloud {Tauranga]. Its relatively comfortable with the lower due points. Normal sea temps would add another 5 deg to the due point here ,but then there would be more convective cloud around and less sun. Feels more like an eastern summer here at the mo.

Re: General February Weather
The general westerly pattern continues to drop south with high pressure dominating northern NZ weather as we go into February, may even see some easterlies over the top of the country toward mid month which is more typical Feb weather.
Northern NZ weather turning more humid now.

Re: General February Weather
Cloudy morning here although no rain expected until later this afternoon, currently 15.5 with overnight minimum of 11.1
In Van Diemen's Land, truly a day reminiscent of summer in Aotearoa.
We're expected to get one hot day on Saturday otherwise unsettled rest of the week.

GFS has been consistent for a fine sunny Waitangi weekend for Auckland and good weather for much of the country, the west and south of the South Island catching some rain/showers mainly on Monday.

Re: General February Weather
15 degrees and wet here at the moment.
A premonition of what might be in a few days across on your side of the Tasman, just deduct another five degrees.

the radar beam often is above the drizzle that is near the surface from low cloud (we are in the clouds here currently with drizzle, 5mm so far

Has been up to 28degC here today, very pleasant; a little sea-breeze just cooling the day down nicely now.
Enjoy your fishing, SnwAddct; have a pleasant long weekend, all.

Re: General February Weather
Interesting story from WeatherWatch about 'drought declarations', following Primary Industries Minister, Nathan Guy's 'official classification' of drought conditions in Northland yesterday, with the Gisborne and Hawke's Bay areas likely to follow suit within the next couple of weeks.
I see that central Akld northwards (Incl. Greatt Barrier Is., but not Waiheke) are also included in the accompanying Adverse Event Status map as being a 'medium-scale adverse event'…

Re: General February Weather
I travelled up through NW Auckland countryside Thursday to Shelly Beach (about 20 mins drive north of Helensville), the paddocks were sure looking dry!
