It shows all weather conditions: temperature, wind direction, wind speed and pressure
Have you tried it?

great if you live in a country where their are lots of METAR aiport stations available ....here in NZ there are only 4
but if you used say my software, then you can set up a mesomap, like ricky has, and use all sorts of weather sources, not just metar or wunderground
se his here:

(and mouse over to see more data)

ricky has a cool web cam image going now too!

It's a very generic cheap 1 Mp digital camera (about $90) with the lens replaced by a wide angle one from cheap b/w security camera. Works quite well, but the sun is often in shot with such a wide angle, doesn't cause a problem though..
It's mounted in a small outdoor security light housing atop the roof and connected by USB.
Weather-display software adds the text information and does whole day video clips from the one frame per minute stored, they look very cool! especially with some of the cloud / sunsets here lately :)

and i have used ricky's idea, after visiting him, of putting the camera into a outdoor security type light :)

There are a zillion of these little apps available, but I think most people here have weather stations, or are more focused upon data from professional sites, like Metservice, etc.

Take a look at FreeWX (http://www.freewx.net). That's my pick for best Microsoft Windows-based weather software, not least because it's free. Then there's Brian's Weather Display program, and some other equally-good apps too.

There's some excellent Linux-based weather software for the really keen weather types, and it also has the advantage of being free. We use Meteo, and wx200d, but there are others too.

None of these are much use if you don't have a weather station though. :-)

people keep getting andy, the author of freewx, to add features like found in weather display...and he does it for free....and people get those new featueres for free,.....makes hard for other software to compete with that.

i am surprised to see you mention weather display gary, as i know how much you loath it, LOL
but 3600 people seem to pretty happy with it, and it has 100's of active users on a support forum, see here:
http://weather-watch.com/smf/

there are some very clever people their who use weather display's power to its maximum....freewx does not come anywhere near what weather display can do, I dont know how you can say its the best windows weather station software?

Um, it's not a competition Brian. I happen to think Weather Display is great. It's just that when we used Windows-based software, we chose FreeWX. It cost us nothing, and did all that we needed very reliably. We're a not-for-profit, with a next-to-no-budget, so free is important. It's one of the many reasons we chose to ditch Windows in favor of Linux. As it happens, the Linux-based Meteo and wx200d weather software is mature and powerful, so we use that too. That's all. Don't take it so personally. :-)

i know you did try my linux version....but it did not suit?

you cant beat free, but, if anyone is able to aford it, and can run it ok, weather display has proven to be popular around the world

ps. I am off to the UK and Europe in just over a week, paid for by the UKweathershop, as a promotional thing, so I wont be a pain in the neck on this forum for a month, LOL
