Next CWW meeting?

Unread post by Storm Struck »

I believe it's time again but just where? and when? :) .
We have had a few events on video like the January 6th storm and of course others that steve and Aaron etc have chased near birdlings flat southwards. Also the snowfall of 19th September 2005 and of course we can't not miss the video from warbirds over wanaka. 8) :D
Any sugestions for the two w's .
Cheers

Sounds like a good idea, Jase but owing to the lack of responses to this posting, it seems that people are not really interested unless something substantial happened. I'm quite keen but I haven't recorded anything substantial and all of my weather videos/dairies etc are stored away in the container at West Melton.
I still think that us CWW people should get together more often and share our thoughts/views whatever. :|

It does seem like an age.

An age of mystery, an age of feelings, an age of ones time.

But enough about ages.

Yes, a meeting sometime would be good. Sorry, I should've put a post here by now. Your right Jas, a meeting soon would be good. Will have to compile alot of my footage onto a DVD.

Cheers

Ok hasn't gone far but thats ok 8) .
Here is what we could do we need atleast three people from Canterbury region who could host the meeting.
I will then put three names into a hat and which ever one is drawn out would be the one to host it.
There is no rush just thought it has been dragging on awhile.
Someone mentioned asking Bob Crowder too.
Cheers

Hey John did you get a hold of Bob Crowder about the meeting? :D .
If anyone from Canterbury knows of anywhere we could host this meeting that would be great.

OK ok..... :D

Lets get this over and done with.

Steven Graham has been a good host but it would be good for someone else to give a hand at hosting. I thought I might be able to do it at my house but am thinking it wouldn't be the best place for it.

So, I was thinking about getting a little room in town somewhere and we can all go there. Off the top of my head I was thinking the Chateau on the Park where they have projectors and rooms and stuff. Hell, I don't really know the cost yet (I'd pay the room costs) but I'll find out on Monday as they said to call back then. They have small rooms where we could watch stuff then go to the bar where they have a little area (with fire, gas perhaps?) to talk and have nibbles / drinks etc (you'll have to pay for the drinks! lol), then go back to the other room for more watching etc maybe? I'll look into other places to but the Chateau I think could be nice? We'll see.

So, who wants to go. From the people in Cantab I could see up to around 10 or 11 coming. Put your name down so I've got ruff figures. It would be a Thursday night at some point probably the week after next or the week after that.

I know your keen to host Gary, but yeah.........lol.

Cheers

Edit: Early indications are Thursday evening/night is best.
Edit (Names so far):

1) Aaron Wilkinson
2) Steven Burrows
3) Jason Tippet

OK.

I've been to the Chateau to have a look and talked to a lady there. They are willing to help and it's quite a bit cheaper than I thought.

Due to these meetings being a "casual" thing the best place for it will be in their public lounge (sort of dining / casual meeting area, it's a nice place) which is an area just South West (225°) of the blue dot labeling the "Den Bar" on the attached map. This will mean it actually costs nothing apart from TV and video hire which I'll cover. We'll be doing this on a Tuesday evening as this is the least busy for them and means the lounge will have hardly any people in it if none at all (except us of course). I'll be ordering a plater of nibbles and you can also get drinks from the bar.

Please give me an email to tell me if you would like to come (email is in my profile details I guess?) for the date in question. About 3 to 4 nights before the night this will be held I'll be sending out a confirmation email to those that want to come to confirm the night is going ahead.

Looking forward to your emails then I'll send out the details.

Cheers
Aaron

I have just hit on an idea.
Why not patronize the ISOBAR in hornby??
What a good place for weather enthusiasts to meet.
The name sounds good :)
Not for a foram meet but why not have a beer and chat...or a glass of water as I know that you Aaron don't drink alcoholic drinks>

I don't not like alcoholic drinks! I just don't drink them :D I'll take that coke there Andrew, perhaps a raspberry and coke would be better?

Sounds like something to do John. Give a time and I'll see if I can go (most likely will be able to go) and others.

Things are a go for the meeting soon at the Chateau (meaning it's confirmed with the Chateau and reserved), if you want to come please give an email. 6 or 7 coming so far.

It's nothing official and all, just casual.

Cheers

Perhaps (with Mr Graham's indulgence) the announcement of an actual meeting warrants its own thread, rather than just a reply tacked on to this one, so that it is as widely seen by potential attendees as possible?
