To further cheer you up, here is a photo of the blue sky, looking towards the Tasman Sea and also to NZ for that matter. Taken from Waverly Park Bondi (At the back of my place).
Seriously though, this has been an exceptionally bad month here, a very unpleasant contrast to last year when August right through to latish November was excellent.
Re Aussie 2005, yes quite surprising, they have recorded more sunshine than Sydney for once .
Seriously they're heading for one of the driest, sunniest and warmest Octobers on record if this contuines. (Or could be new records, will wait for the monthly summary).
Glad you like the pictures.
I took some photos this morning of the sun rising.
Once lush and green, now is a sad shadow of its former glory. The current dry spell (about 20mm since 3rd week of September to now) has made the grass go brown and look dead. When it rains (heavily over a few days) again, it will recover quickly.
Now we are recovering from a foul southerly storm with a few more landslips, this should end up as one of the most unpleasant Octobers ever here. I envy your current weather. It's no consolation that in some sense we were overdue both for the high winter rainfall (rainfall in the years since 1981 here has overall had a significant deficit) and for a really rotten spring month (August onwards last year was a great spell with only minor hiccups).
In a previous post - I posted a pic of the dry spell which caused Waverley Park to go brown and dead in October 2006.
This is a update.
I took 2 photos today - a vast improvement on October's. Really nice to see the park looking very green/healthy instead of being that horrid brown colour and looking dead. We have recorded some good falls over Bondi this month - 22mm has fallen in the last 24 hours up to 9am today with another 5mm - 10mm falling this afternoon.
Weather been like this all day today. Its what we call "Black Nor-easter" weather which doesnt come around very often - its the 1st time since June 2005 since we've had this type of weather
Cant see the Tasman Sea at all. (In a previous post - have put out a pic of the same view under a Blue Sky - can really notice the difference).
