can anyone suggest any current good books on cloud formations etc and what they mean in predicting the weather and current conditions etc ?

It's not current but you can still get copies of Spacious Skies by Scorer and Verkaik through Amazon (hope that link works).
It took about 8 weeks for my copy to arrive because the 3rd party sellers only seem to use surface mail !
I've been looking at other, newer, books e.g. The Weather Wizard's Cloud Book, The Book of Clouds and The Weather Identification Handbook but haven't decided if I'll get any of them.
