Thundery end to this week for the NI

Unread post by C-Nimbus »

I spy with my little eye something beginning with the letter "T" for the end of this week.

The GFS prognosis (cooor dont i sound flash!!!) indicates some very cold air aloft for thursday and friday and this should lead to some action i reckon.

Action looks to be likely along a very sharp cold front followed by a SW pattern.

thoughts anyone?

Will be interesting to see what develops in the eastern Tasman over the next 12 to 24 hours with the pool of cold air moving through.
I see the Cold Front west of Buller this evening is very active just now with a good line of Thunderstorms along it.

Yesterday's strong northerlies turned to the south just before midnight here in Tawa, and brought much-needed rain. Nice and steady too, allowing the parched ground to make use of it before too much runs off. 21 mm since just before midnight. Last rain was 3 mm which fell on April 4th. Bit nippy, though!

Just had a heavy squally shower here with hail ( small)

Sat pic shows some larger Cb clouds developing out to the west.

A Thunderstorm passed just south of Auckland.

Also looks like some Thundery action over Northland and BOP currently.
