According to one meteorologist whose comments I respect there could be big trouble in the southeast this coming warm season: "...The entire east Australian wheat crop is on edge and the Murray Darling Irrigation system may collapse over this coming summer due to drought".

The heat then moved on to Vic and NSW with Melbourne recording its hottest August day (25.7oC) since 1982 (25.7oC on the 28th) & Sydney recorded 2 days over 27oC - only 2 other Augusts have experienced 2 days of 27oC+ temps (1995 and 1885).
