For all things relating to tectonic plate collisions. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis... the Pacific ring of fire and world-wide. Please create new threads for stronger earthquakes when they happen above magnitude 5.0.
The BoM have released tsunami threat advice for SE Aus but I can't find any info for NZ? - Who issues warnings for NZ? I know the MetService are responsible for the VAAC in the SW Pac, but i've never seen them issue any advisory... it must straight from the NOAA in Hawaii. One has to wonder if NZ will be ready.
Simular thing happend a day before the big boxing day tsunami except the earthquake magnitude was about 8.3 on the scale in the auckland islands.
Certainly abit of movement and action going in with the earth around NZ at the moment although this comes after a quiet period for earthquakes.
Cheers
Jason.
Found this. http://wcatwc.arh.noaa.gov/ttvu776021-01.gif thought it was quite interesting. Just a forecast for if there was/is a tsunami. Highly doubt there will be a tsunami as we would have heard about it by now.
