Big Moon

Unread post by RODALCO »

Last night the Moon was huge.
While driving over the Harbour Bridge at 2100 hrs in between the streaks of clouds the rising Moon was amazing, looking direction Takapuna.
Any one else saw this too ?

Unfortunately I did'nt have the memory stick in my camera :o and missed out for a great photo opportunity.
Who put the LED's on the lightning arrestor ?

Last month it was the biggest/brightest full moon for 2008 and for 2009 it was last night.
14% bigger and 30% brighter than usual. The moonrise was a hell of a show with the clouds here ! :D

It was very bright here when I went for a "Jimmy Riddle" about 1:50am this morning.
I could see my way through the house to the toilet without having to turn the hallway light on

Yes, I posted something about it this morning but, as an addendum, it could be argued that although 'Full Moon Alignment' took place at 2:28pm yesterday (so officially Sun/Mon night for Full Moon here), the previous night's moon (Sat/Sun night) was actually bigger, as Perigee occurred on Saturday night at 11:53pm.

Also, Dec's Full Moon wasn't just the closest for 2008, it was also the closest the Moon has been to Earth since 1993 according to National Geographic.
