Sorry, I was referring to the problems with the One Weather graphics tonight. I would have laughed myself off the mountain to see a Microsoft BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death)...

The TV presenter's nightmare come true. But I'm sure they can't possibly be running their systems on Microsoft Windows!

Windows isn't all that bad (except for Wintendo XP) ;)

I've just spent the afternoon migrating my obs database from a legacy database platform to mySQL which was very painless with Windows :D

I thought the TVNZ graphics are on a Silicon Graphics workstation ? (or maybe I'm out of date!)

Cheers,

G

Heh! We've almost finished migrating all our systems to Linux and OpenBSD! :-)

Wintendo XP (heh! Good one! Like it) and the Great XP SP1a Saga was the final straw for us...the amount of effort required just to get the USB webcam drivers installed after patching the workstations...never again, I say, never again!

I'm pretty sure they used to run IRIX at TVNZ, and wouldn't be at all surprised if they still are. Sure hope so anyway! ;-)
