Ha! im just glad Canterbury dont have it. You would not believe the passionate hate i have for canterbury and the crusaders. to make it better i really hope someone other than canterbury wins the title.. that will be perfect. What i dont understand is how pathetic the crowds are in chirstchurch when your team has the ranfulry shield.

Well done to the Stags or Southlanderrrrrrrs
, nice to see someone else other than the usual top teams get the sheild for the summer.
Southland has been playing very well over the past few years
.
I agree Jamieh the crowds are not very good here for the canterbury cup games, same with Wellington too.
I will have to go against you and say i hope Canterbury wins the Cup seeing as we didnt get the super 14 title this year, Chiefs had a shot at getting the super 14 title this year Jamieh but the damn Bulls took it off ya
.
Although thats Crusaders fault for not making it a home final, go figure

One thing that annoys me about professional rugby these days is the lack of 100% local talent in the sides. That's why I lost interest in the sport.
Watching 'Close-Up', the old fella said that the team that won the Ranfurly Shield 50 years ago were all local players, not like thesedays.
Was all the Southland team members from the area?

About 6 of the starting lineup are outsiders, thats what annoys me, we have alot of good talent in club rugby which just goes unnoticed.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:One thing that annoys me about professional rugby these days is the lack of 100% local talent in the sides. Re: And the shield moves South
I think alot of people have lost interest in the game because of the PC rules and how the game keeps changing all the time.
No wonder the players get confused, they played different rules in the Tri Nations compared to the super 14.
What happened to the good old days of a good game of rugby, and not consisting of penalty after penalty thats not rugby its more like that aussie rules game.
Perhaps its time the NZRU got some public opinion on what a game of rugby should be, instead of worrying about this touchy feely stuff apon injuries etc, its a rugby game people get injured practically normal.
Rant rant
.
Why do i still watch it????

I'll always prefer the AirNZ cup to Super 14/15 whatever it is these days, the sheer passion you see from the small teams is great to see, seems like the game isn't free flowing these days, bring back the free kick instead of the penalty!
