The month of May is peak season for tornadoes on the southern plains but the month has been stable thus far I notice. Next trough is due there mid to late next week. Must really annoy all those chasers over there having a big H stuck over them at the moment. :)

Thank goodness that you or I are not over there storm-chasing at the moment, whatever #-o

...by the way, Steven, that TVNZ guy did contact that storm chaser from ChCh, who I had never heard of and he's not on this forum or a NZTS member, and apparently, I think that they have gone over there ...?

A chase trip to USA needs to be atleast 3 weeks to cover for the eventuality of a big slow moving ridge. The magic of the US plains is though, when storms do develop, they deliver the goods.

Re TVNZ, I don't think so. I had an email from Wayne Johnson this week and they were still looking.

Here is a link with nice pics of a tornado in Germany this week.

Wayne Johnson (TVNZ) was wanting to do a story on a storm chaser from NZ in Tornado Alley. Doesn't appear to be any NZ'ers making the trip this year.

A chase group from Australia(Jimmy Dejura and thunderbolttours) have been over there since end of April. I nearly joined this tour. Anyway, this URL has some nice pics on it that they have taken thus far.

I know of a fellow who runs a car yard in West Auckland who goes every year.

I've been toying with the idea of going for several years but have decided to go rot on a tropical beach instead this year in June... also maybe go to Darwin for the start of the wet around October / November to go see 'Hector' up close.

I'd HATE  to go on an organised Storm chase anyway. I'd rather go over there by myself and do my own thing :)
...probably with someone else who is inclined the same way as me.
I would get so annoyed with those "Yanky Boys and their toys" type of scenario :x Yuck!

You could of come to my place, Christchurch was so lovely, lots of lovely fine days, settled weather over the past week.
It would be something to do to pass the time? ;)
