Cool/Cold finish to 09

Some cold temperatures over the eastern SouthIsland currently, Gore on 8C ,Dunedin / Christchurch on 10C.
Temps falling under some quite deep showercloud ( isolated TS) which have developed with the passage of some very cold upper level air.

GFS 4am temperatures for tomorrow. Looks cold inland with maybe a frost or two is places like Tekapo.

Warmer here now mainly because the wind has dropped. Up to 12C.

Wellington now 10C, Masterton 11C, Kaikora 8C.
And Kaikoura reached 24C before the change. :-o

14 degrees here the southerly didnot really affect here. Snowing on mountians in central otago this morning.

Down in Wanganui now Wind howled all the way down,many twigs on roads,no rain at all, westerly wind dropped at dusk.

Down to 15C here overnight but a dewpoint fall from 17C yesterday morn to 8C this morn, change of airmass often shows up better in the dewpoints here.

We got snowed on pretty hard at top of mt holdsworth in the tararua ranges on Dec 21st. Snowed from about 1100m asl and settled on the ground above about 1200m. Trig was covered in ice. Great summer holiday experience! :B
