Most of the 60s and early 70s stuff was on film and erased.can remember them pointing with a stick, the temperatures in black boxes along side the city, even remember Fahrenheit.Remember the when we watched channel 8 (tv1) and tuning to channel 6 to get tv2 later.

The weather maps back in those days were really basic - still, it was great to the old weather presenters and weather forecasts this evening on telly.

We were looking forward to the highly advertised celebration of 50 years of television in New Zealand thinking that that we would have 2 hours of looking at what had been on our screens during those years. Hoped we could put our feet up and enjoy it.

Instead we were confronted by an appalling TV gameshow featuring a crowd of TVNZ buffoons broken by advert breaks that couldn't be distinguished from the advertisements they were trying to feature as part of the programme!

We gave up after an hour. TVNZ wasted an opportunity to celebrate some of the clever things they have done over the years by wallowing in their self-importance. Disappointing performance.

I thought so too.

...and those silly micraphone mouthpieces they had 0_o

PRIME TV has a 50 year celebration one day next week. I hope that that will be better.

On the tv tonight cant remember who but they said one night in Chch they had an outage there at the news hour and they stared at a clock on the screen for 1/2 hour,I do remember that clock, also remember if you turned it on a little early a test pattern was to be seen, earlier than that,it was a 1khz tone ringing,if you turned it on at 9 oclock in the morning there was no transmission at all with white snow. Also when the ads were to come on remembered the programme had white rings at the top corner.

I remember those rings in the right hand corner but I mentioned to people who were TV viewers in that period and they don't remember them, strangely?
