It looks like the unstable air associated with this trough will pass to the north of Northland end of the week. So just a low chance of any convective activity here in Auckland. :(

There is an area of cloud development and Thunderstorms in the North Tasman that has been drifting SE and this should affect Northern NZ in the Morning .

For NORTHLAND, AUCKLAND AND WAIKATO FROM ABOUT HAMILTON CITY NORTHWARD.
A band of heavy rain is expected to cross these areas on Wednesday. As it does so
,
there will likely be a burst of heavy rain over a 2 to 4 hour period. This may
deliver as much as 40 to 60mm and hourly intensities could briefly reach 30mm/hr
.
Such intensities may cause local flash flooding.

You can always tell in this gloomy(also quite mild for this time of year) weather that there will be lots of rain as I never seen it gloomy then it fines up again without lots of rain first :P

Thick fog in Central Auckland this morning.
Satellite shows showers and Thunderstorms should affect northern parts of the North Island this afternoon, north of Hamilton.
