Digital images - tip

Unread post by GraemeWi »

As there are a few of us with digital cameras - I thought I'd pass on some free software I've seen recomended.

HeliconNoiseFilter

This is a piece of software which removes noise from images - not really for net viewing, but if you are going to print a 8x10. It really does work. I've attached a before and after screenshot using the HeliconNoiseFilter.

There is another called NeatImage which is more powerful, a little slower, but has much more controls. Also free for the non-commercial home version. http://www.neatimage.com

Cheers,

Looking at the screen dump I did, there is a heap of detail 'lost' in the after picture. I re-processed the same image today at a lower noise level (16 instead of 20) and far less detail was lost.
