Yes. It's the strong influence of the La Nina that we are now getting. Hazy skies here looking towards the uplifts on the mountains in the distance. (Totally clear in TC this afternoon)

Looks like something more across to the east of the hills just west of here, CU with a possible shower cell.
Tracker is picking up strikes somewhere to the west.
MS now have a high risk inland and a low risk just outside it, from North Otago to the Nelson Lakes area.
Can definatly see some shower cells now, one looking black to the west so the 5pm radar should be interesting.

Yes, I enjoy the humid climate we have in Auckland but the high humidity is yet to start here, a brief taste last weekend.
Dunedin dewpoints similar to Auckland today and all that moisture down there + inland heat is firing isolated thundery Cbs over the mnts/hill country.

Quite a brisk sou'wester still coming through which I think is knocking it back at those sites. I think inner city gauges will be around 25 or 26 at the moment. It is VERY warm in the sheltered shade at my house today. Been out painting...paint dries before I've finished each plank of wood!
Winds pretty much all over the place but yes, I see Akld Aero and Whangaparoa dropped back to 21C at 3pm, while Whenuapai Aero was on 23C and I think Ardmore Aero managed 24C this arvo.

Yet another sunny day here  with a max of 22.9C here at 4:15pm.

P.S. I see W/W have 32C at Murchison today! Murchison also managed 30C yesterday but didn't seem to get a mention, nor did Reefton on 29C, Pukaki Aero on 28C or Wanaka on at least 28C. Also no mention of Wanaka today with at least 29C. :-k

So close yet so far away, been looking up at these tall cb's over the hills since getting back from CHCH at 3.00,certainly warm enough to help produce these clouds with 31C at 2.00 then cooled to 28C at 4.00 but has gone up again and is now on 30C.
Even though its not likely there will be any storm in my area,it still cant stop me from getting a photo of these neat looking clouds, looking up on a 45 degree, which are not the major storms further back in the hills

Still plenty of clear sky with some high cloud about. Radar shows inland only for rain/showers. Southerly has arrived though about half an hour ago. Currently 18 degrees.

Interesting cloud, mainly of the unstable SC building type, towards TC, but nothing really coming out of it.

Yes, the low cloud will disappear. Quite a warm airmass over us so temperatures will rise.

Looking like some heavy showers will develop this afternoon from the Kaimai ranges to Taupo.

sort of morning you would want to see in the midwest to get storms in the afternoon :)

This doesn't look too bad but the lift isnt really there unless orographical lift can take place over the Kaimais.
