Michael, the record low pressure for the North Atlantic is 914mb, which was estimated for an extratropical depression that has become known as the Braer storm after a ship that sunk during its passage and the subsequent oil spill. The links below gives a few more details. This occured in January 1993. A synoptic map can be found in the Met Office Link.
