Large solar flares in the skies tonight!!

Unread post by Storm Struck »

Could be quite a show viewed to the south of the South Island, after a very large CME coronal mass ejection erupted from the sun just 2 days ago.
Nothing to be overly alarmed about, but there might be some disturbances with satelittes etc.
Could this explain the recent activity of the 10 or so RECORDED quakes across the country today, have an impact id tend to believe the sun spots affected earths plates over the moon theorys.
Mind you the poles are moving hence why the earths shield is getting slightly weaker.

When I read the news of the solar flare, I wondered whether we might see any aurora, however a moonlit night mayn't be the best viewing conditions? (not to mention all the cloud we've got here).

If anyone wants to keep an eye on the southern Earth aurora oval, here is the link :

But as Orlon said, on a Full Moon night you can't expect too much of a show ... :?
