26 degrees now but still a NE breeze. I see Airport is on 24.5 with a 20km/h E at the moment. NW change could push the mercury to 27/28 if it happens in the next hour or so. Ashburton has a more Northerly flow at the moment around 25 there. Nice to see these sunshine hours today though.

NW breeze now being recorded at the airport and 26 degrees there. Still light NE over this side of town also on 26. Thin high cloud about now though. Looking at the month, this is quite easily the warmest day, saved the best for the very last of it! Tomorrow into Wednesday looks quite dramatic on the 3 day forecast covering quite a wide area .

October summary - unlovely for many. Record low sunshine for Ch'ch (1930+) (though that was still 70% of average), 3rd lowest for Wellington in 106 years of city records.

There might have been 80cm in some higher altitude areas but there certainly wasnt that much in the township,I was talking to someone up there the morning after that fall and they said there was 31cm of snow in the township.

Interesting. Their month's mean wind-speed obviously shouldn't be there. Hasn't been any credible wind data since that 180 km/h gust evidently took out the anemometer-mast, around 9-10pm on the 24th.
