I am wondering if this topic is useful in this forum.
Anyway my name is Konstantinos and I am from Athens, Greece... I like to discuss about weather and New Zealand is a country which has a rare kind of weather.
Greek community in New Zealand has about 4.500 people. Of course I do not believe I can find someone of them here, but why not?
Congratulations to administrators for this beautiful forum.

Re: Weather in Athens, Greece
I have changed the title in something more general about weather in Greece.
I am wondering why the most active English-forum about weather I have ever found is this one... "THE NEW ZEALAND WEATHER FORUM".... This is very good... I am happy...
When you come, in the next August, you will see this weather:
1) Sun, but there is chance to see a few clouds... You can imagine only sun...
2) Winds: It is likely to see all kinds of winds. But you can imagine Etesians. What are Etesians?
The etesians are the strong, dry north winds of the Aegean Sea, which blow from about mid-May to mid-September. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Etesian
3) Temps: The temps will be more than 30 - 32 C. Be sure about this... You can imagine more than 37 C... It is possible to see Heat Wave 40 - 42 C... But you can enjoy this one.. How? Really heat waves in Mediterranean are very beautiful, especially when you are in one of 1200 Greek islands. Also, you can enjoy a hot wave if you will go in a high altitude (500+ meters) next to a very cold water resource - river.
Simply said, you will see sun, Etesians and 35 - 38 degrees C....
I have found a very good hiking trip - route for the days with hot wave, in Greek island Euboea, in which I have my cottage. I begin in morning 7:00 with a very cold swimming in the beach at 0 m altitude and after that I hike in mount Ochi... During my walking in uphill (and downhill) I meet a few water resources in which I drink a very cold water. So, 12:00 I am in Ochi's peak at 1400 m altitude (when the temperature in Athens is 40 - 42) and then 17:00 I am back to beach for "an ending swimming". Take a look about this trip from a photo: http://www.panoramio.com/photo_explorer ... user=92962
It is obvious, if you (or someone else) come in Greece, I am looking forward to meeting you face to face.

Hello Richard. I will update this topic for the weather in Greece... I will tell you everything extreme that happened in Greece. Also, maybe I will upload photos of my hiking exercises in high Greek mountains during extreme weather...Richard wrote:Hi Konstantinos,![]()

Re: Weather in Greece
The photos are lovely and very interesting.
I'm sure the scent of the flowering thyme in the hot sunshine would be unforgettable.
Amazing landscapes and ancient buildings. Thankyou for sharing the photos.

Yes, hot, but you cannot feel it, if you swim every day 2 - 3 hours... Or if you walk in high altitude (500 m +)....03Stormchaser wrote:Will be Hot!!
