The southerly moving up the easts coast of NZ seems to be pretty weak, though it must've arrived much earlier than predicted (early morning on Banks Peninsula), with light showers.
However, the Chathams look like getting a far more powerful blast, with hail and sleet. This morning's forecast even predicted snow flurries for the islands - you don't hear that very often. 7C at Chathams in 9AM obs - should get even colder today!
