Yes much weaker TCU about this afternoon but with the colder pool of air sitting much further south its been kind of expected for the best action down there, as currently there is a thunderstorm over North Otago.
Will keep an eye on the SW as it moves up this evening to see if it produces something even though its very minimal you never know :-)
Despite this. Not looking very no promising here although I did noted some Cb's out to the SE from here, through the trees that were blown down in the " Big Blow 2013"
Moving offshore 8)
Shouldn't be much except for colder weather tomorrow.
Some weakening Cu with today's pattern but as it is getting towards sunset, the Cu development is slow to non-existent.

And only looking like 1 or 2 mm this evening :(

Despite the active westerly pattern onto NZ this October we managed a very dry October here.
Anticyclonic southwesterlies (dry) can be a feature of our weather here this time of year however I see a Tasman low in the models for next week.

1.7mm here overnight. I see MS ended up with 3.0mm for Whangaparaoa and a mere 0.6mm for Akld Aero

we managed 75 here for the month so still reasonable but dryer than normal. Just under 3/4 of our normal. Some of the trees we transplanted in the winter sprouted leaves but i think now they are lacking moisture.

In the last 6 years or so November has been a very dry month. So if that trend continues it could be a dry start to summer. Hopefully November has plenty of convection.

October had an average daily max of 19.8°C here. That's easily the warmest I've recorded in an October month so far. Very dry with 24 mm rain total.

I see Tauranga Aero only recorded 15.0mm for this Oct, which I think is its 3rd lowest Oct rainfall in well over 100 years of records. In Contrast, Kelburn, Wgtn had 162mm.

Tauranga Aero and Musselburgh, Dunedin also had average T-maxs that were 2.2C above normal, although both also had T-mins just 0.3C above normal.

the 23mm we got makes it one of the driest Octobers here on record
Interestingly for here Novemember has been in the past the driest month for rain total (like only a few mm)

Yes, Mangere recorded 28mm and the airport 34mm, which is probably about their 5th lowest in over 50 years of records.

Kelburn has already reached its annual average rainfall. Fingers crossed for a dry November and December. I rate the 5-6 weeks here dating from about 18 September as the worst (for the time of year) since 1979. q-

87.9mm for October here in West Melton.
Up to 814mm for the year so far.
More here, so far, than my rain gauge in Halswell.

Here's NIWA's 'October 2013 National Climate Summary'.

The national average temp was 0.8C above normal.

Riccarton in Chch recorded the month's highest temp of 28.9C on the 24th.

And for the third consecutive month, Ruakura, Hamilton had its warmest mean-max temp on record. Tauranga Aero also recorded its highest ever Oct mean-max temp.
