Yes, the place is drying out a bit, noticed it more so after returning from Oamaru on Monday.
Might have to get the irrigators out

on track for a lowest rainfall record, except bit forecast from Tuesday next week, so we'll see.
and warm too. mean daily max of 23.7°C is a full 4.3°C higher than the same stat the last 2 years.

Mr Duncan keeps going on about how dry the north is too but show little interest in the south were we have had much less rain in the Chch area than many in the north in the last 30 days.

You have to consider what it's like compared to the average rather than just compare regions. See the NIWA soil moisture deficit map. Soils in Canterbury are indeed drier than usual for the time of year, but soils in Northland are much drier than usual for the time of year.

I especially like their new 30 and 60 day drought ones. Well not so new now but appeared during the drought this year.

Gonna be a stinker out there today, would have been one of those days nudging 30 if the change was to come through a little later on in the day rather than just after midday. Could still get up to late 20's though. Currently 18, no wind and blue dome skies.

27 degrees now but a light southerly now here so temp will prob start to fall away very soon. You can see the change showing on the radar with that line prefrontal.

Updated: Breezy southerly now, still warm though and a big unstable looking area almost directly above.

Not looking very promising now with low cloud moving in from the SW, sadly :(
Down to 18C now from 25.8C around 11 am.

Southerly and cloud arrived here at 8.30am which ruined up any chances of decent heating. low cloud and light rain currently.

Got to 26.7C yesterday. Today it is already pushing 21C. I suspect we will be a bit warmer today if conditions remain the same. Maybe 27+ today, which is pretty darn warm for November. 27.3C in 2010 is the warmest November temp this station has ever recorded.

Mainly clear skies here, 23.5C with 16-17C dewpoint. We have been doing a major garden tidy up at home and would have liked a cloudy day or two! Really hot working out there in full sun and little wind
