6 Inches of rain in less than an hour - Edmonton Canada

Unread post by jeffsweather »

I was looking through the UK weather news group and found a link to some photos of flooding from a storm in the 11 July that dumped almost 150mm of rain in less then 1 hour.

Shows the Whitemud freeway looking like a river with iceflows and cars in it in the middle of their summer :!:

There is a story about the storm here

and some more photos here

Wouldn't want anything like this in Christchurch!

The web makes the world a small place. ;)

People were talking about this on a hummer forum I know of. Apparently it's actually heaps of hail all fused together, it then began to break up giving that ice-flow effect.

Ahh, here it is. I found the email this guy wrote on the humvee.net forum with a link:
While not entirely Hummer related, I thought I'd share the results of a storm that passed through my city yesterday...

What looks like spring ice breakup is actually hail pellets that fused together!

Interesting indeed!

Too true... my partner was on a feline forum and they were discussing this event also. One of the members lived near there

I don't know whether she took this picture herself, or if it's from a newspaper or what, but some pretty awesome stuff!
