Sorry weather watchers if this has been done before and I know from other places that "which one should I buy?" forums are both subjective and tedious. However, having aviated globally and sent numerous met reports from aloft to the pros on the ground I want to be able to infect the next generation with a fascination for our natural science.
As ever, the coffers are strained but I seem to have narrowed the field to the Davis 6162 since the anemometer can be detached for meaningful readings and it will allow UV readings. Any advice/direction gratefully received, thanks!

PS CBs are active! 26,000' in a heavy 4 jet all engines idle - still going UP!
