The problem I have is that nobody actually saw said worms falling from the sky. It's just assumed (perhaps erroneously) that if they 'couldn't possibly' have come from below, then they must have come from above. My guess is that these are similar to, if not the same as, the ice-worms or snow-worms found in North American regions…
