Looking very squally over the west of the North island overnight and tomorrow morning and a few wind damage reports possible. Auckland could be affected as well, particularly tomorrow morning after day break if BOM model verifies.

Intersting that the school principal is quoted as saying, "there was no thunderstorm warning or watch for our area ... it just came out of the blue". Yet that area was included in MetService's Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued at 8:49am and again at 11:54am…

Agreed, unlike Jamie who gets to enjoy the show in the Waikato, over here in the Bay of Plenty on the Eastern side of the Kaimai Force field, a bit of wind and rain was all I noticed.

Glad for those who got a good show.

Watch the skies tomorrow pm John. ingredients look to be there tomorrow particularly Banks Peninsula.

For Wellington city so far this month, rainfall is barely half average, temperatures above average and sunshine more than an hour per day above average.

One or two nice Cbs around.

Central Auckland has quite good sheltering from the wind, strong winds are quite rare here.
