Good attempt at capturing lightning last night spwill.

Another round of possible lightning in Auckland area with the front early Saturday evening.

Loud long roll of thunder a few minutes ago… just off our NW coast by the looks.

Same here. So far nothing unusual about the wind in Howick today, max gusts around 50 km/h.

Wow 98.1km gust at home. I was worried I would never record a speed more than 93 as I've had 93 so many times but never higher.

An extra intense burst came through central Hamilton about that time with a heavy shower. Eased right off now by comparison.

I think the strongest winds were through the Waikato..and we were just clipping them here too ...112kmh gust here today
(98kmh is great for inland Waikato Jamie !)

Been hail here as well, now back to steady rain.

Anyone else noticed an usual number of flies around for the time of year? Normally don't see that many in July, today there have been heaps of them on our back porch sheltering from the wind. Eliminated about 20 with the fly swat today alone

been the odd one around here...sign of a warm winter.

The dewpoint now 12C in Auckland which is a favourable number for tonight's thunder chance.

Starting to get a decent pressure drop starting at 1.1hpa/hr atm....

Cold front getting active as it comes inshore...... some good squalls possible.....

Also some good fresh convective plumeage on that line too, I would expect the front to fire up even more as we approach darkness.

A line of thunderstorms has formed off the Waikato coast.

My oldest boy has been working south of Raglan and said they had a fantastic storm Thursday night, he's in Auckland atm , so ive text him to say he should expect some more action in the next few hours... luck bugger , he's taking after his ol man with his love of storms.

In this part of NZ has seen more showers again, the ground is slowly getting wetter.

Some great lightning to my west

This month has seen some very high gusts here. Just had 90km with this storm and 98 yesterday.

Lightning out to SW.

I drove down to Bombay to watch the storm but it was not a great show from my location at Bombay, distant lightning flashes/thunder and the lightning was infrequent.
A gusty heavy shower on my home along the southern motorway

Only 4mm here with the front, and brief gusts to 55 km/h.

Had a squally downpour go through here with 15mm in my gauge last hr.
