Interesting hail clusters there. :-k
Not quite the "Gorilla" type but interesting the shape of the accumulated hail into clusters with fragments sticking out to the outer core of the gathered hail. :|

Dual soundings here for Sydney (blue) and Auckland on Saturday.

I posted these two sounding to togeather to highlight why Sydney gets severe summer storms and Auckland does not.
It comes down to the temperatures in the lower part of the atmosphere.

Australia like USA has very large heated land area so storms have plenty of energy supply. In the case of Sydney it is western Sydney and the hill areas to the north and south that are prone to severe storms in the warm season. Central and eastern Sydney usually miss out on the severe stuff.

This is Saturdays Sydney sounding with the instability plotted. Looks a lot like an USA loaded gun sounding.
