Why dosen't Reefton have a better weather station report on their website, so their weather could be mentioned on the news?
Reefton can be the hottest place on the West Coast with temperatures beating Kawerau on many occasions.

Re: MetService Website 2018
Ah, a topic dear to my heart.
There's a NIWA site in Reefton but no Metservice one. Do Metservice only use their own sites, and not any of NIWA's, or does it depend?
I always found it odd that Reefton had it's own page on Metservice in the first place. Size-wise it's not required at all, and while it does represent quite a different climate to Greymouth and Westport, I'm sure there are many other examples of that around the country which cover a similar geographic area.
I still struggle to see the relevance of it really, and that was even after living there for 5 years....
However, if it had actual proper observations available on the page, which is what you're referring too, that would make a difference.
The observations that are listed under Reefton, are in fact from Springs Junction which is 45k by road away and completely different climate-wise. Why not just have a Springs Junction site? Would probably be more relevant with the road going through there, especially since the quake.

Another township that they have on there website that doesn't have a recording station is Waipara, The MS used to have one there i think many years ago. How can you accurately forecast temps if you dont have a station in that location.

Yes, well I've complained about their website for the weather forecasts to be there when you click onto immediately. ie the NZ short forecast, but you might as well urinate to the wind.Thunder081 wrote: ↑Mon 08/01/2018 11:33 Haha this complaint about Metservice's ads cracked me up (he's right tho)

With Weatherwatch's website, I get annoyed whilst reading their weather, to the right of my eye, there is this guy with a hose constantly watering his house and then showing some fittings he can place in the end of his hose to do this

If you use the browser Chrome you should get the adblock plus extension it will remove all of the ads on their website and all other websites you visit.NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote: ↑Tue 09/01/2018 23:56Yes, well I've complained about their website for the weather forecasts to be there when you click onto immediately. ie the NZ short forecast, but you might as well urinate to the wind.Thunder081 wrote: ↑Mon 08/01/2018 11:33 Haha this complaint about Metservice's ads cracked me up (he's right tho)

I see that MS now have added their local urban main city weather stations to their highs and lows and windiest and wettest to their weather extremes thingy

Yes, I saw that this morning, Ben.
Maybe we weren't going to have any weather today?

Re: MetService Website 2018
Metservice has updated their thunderstorm outlook and severe weather outlook images to a clearer font. A good change I think.

Current Metservice forecast for Auckland on Saturday:
"Cloudy. Showers developing afternoon. Northeasterlies gradually rising to rain in exposed places."
Rain-force winds! Don't tell the media...
