General March Weather
As we march into March and leave summer behind, it should be interesting to see how the first month of Fall turns out( if you come from the United States and prefer to call that instead of the more traditonal word, we use, Autumn.) .......anyway.
More tropical cyclones coming our way?
Will we get an "Indian summer"?
Who knows.

Re: General March Weather
A generally cloudy, damp, mild to warm start to March for NZ. Plenty of sunny weather showing up by mid next week.

Same here, Richard. Warm and a bit muggy/hazy. Noticed a few weak Cu developments to the west in the usual areas.
Edit: Apparently, there were reports of thunderstorm activity this afternoon in behind Dunedin somewhere?
I can remember seeing some red blobs on the radar imagery this afternoon.

Looks promising.
Some punchy looking clouds going up to the west at the moment but I hope nothing develops as we are of to the pictures at 5:30pm.

Heard a couple of rumbles of thunder around the Mt. Peel area as we were walking to the local picture theatre around 5pm.

Forecast high of 28 here today. If we reach that it will be the highest March temperature my weather station has ever recorded (current record is 27.4).

Re: General March Weather
A "cloudy-mild-and-humid" day here like one of those I remember from Auckland: 18.6deg.C, humidity in the 90s%, a low cloud ceiling, occasional spots of rain, very dull and feels quite oppressive.

Re the Stuff (app?) headline, it refers to both the potential TC developing near Fiji and the chance of T-storms in NZ today…

It took them a while but they eventually updated the article to include discussion about the potential cyclone. Off the hook this time...

The way the clouds are building to the NW - SW and this view to the NE maybe a storm could be on the cards later

Re: General March Weather
Nice pictures there, Richard.
Dull and overcast here with 8/8 cloud cover of overcast Sc conditions.
Wish it would clear away so I could see further above.
No rain. Whatever we had eased offf early this morning.

Re: General March Weather
I see MS have increased to a moderate risk of storms for these parts, haven't heard anything but certainly has looked threatening at times.
Warm and humid again today with a high of 24.5deg, lowest humidity level it got to was 61% at 2.20pm

Looks lke the weather you are having there, and also further north, is a bit like what we had here yesterday and the last few days.

Re: General March Weather
I happily watched storms (heard lots of thunder too) over the east of Taupo from here on western Taupo (kuratau) today. Brilliant display of mamatus cloud on the anvil near sunset.
