Apparently there was a 'terrifying twister' funnel cloud reported near Roxburgh, this afternoon as reported by the ODT.

Supposed to be going on a fishing charter out of Tauranga tomorrow at 7am for a stag do. Going to be wild out there if we get out of the harbour.

I would rather send it by Beanstalk as you may get higher reception this depending on how high the beanstalk does grow...but back to the weather.
I wouldn't go out, if I was you, as a lot of people get caught out in situations like this, like today, who would go and climb Aorangi/Mt. Cook this time of year, even though they say they are 'experienced', when the risk of avalanches are quite high?
If it's a 'stag do', I would be cautious.

Maybe it was a snow microburst just where that ute was parked

Yep 2 metres since they closed in October...a snow groomer back on the mountain to cut a track through to the summit for summer maintenance

A funnel would be a very rare sight in the central Otago i would imagine

There's a bit more footage and info in the Otago Daily Times article. Note that the original video was shot by ODT photographer Linda Robertson's son, Bradley Robertson, as the pair drove from Wanaka to Dunedin.

There's been a few damaging tornadoes reported in the past in places like Cromwell and Bannockburn. Central Otago also get a few dust-devils, which are often misreported as tornadoes.
Edit: Updated story.

Wellington total sun was 180, well below average. 2018 will be the 3rd consecutive year with sub-par sunshine here. I see NIWA's Spring summary is available but not November…?! -any ideas Nev?

Thanks Rupert. Have updated Wellington and Christchurch's sunshine, which is more than I can say for NWIA's
November National Climate Summary out now.

Thanks Nev - looks as if they have updated the CliFlo dailies for those sites now, so the monthly totals will be OK when the stats. summary comes out later.
