Storm / Hurricane Barry
Invest 92 is starting to circulate in the Gulf of Mexico but is not a storm at this point. Due to 31c sea surface temperatures and low wind shear, models are showing rapid development within the next 48 hours into Hurricane Barry. The gun U.S hurricane model HWRF is showing a nasty hit into Lousianna and New Orleans. UKMet is sizing up a Cat 3 into Texas near Houston.

Depression is now offically Tropical storm Barry in the Gulf of Mexico.
Maximum Winds: 35 kt Gusts: 45 kt
Minimum Central Pressure: 1005 mb
Still uncertainty between the big models on the exact track. The further west he goes, the more intense he will be on landfall.

Nice readings Simon.
NHC has now upgraded Barry to a hurricane and he is about to move across land into Louisiana. He is a very ugly asymmetrical cane.
Maximum Winds: 65 kt Gusts: 80 kt
Minimum Central Pressure: 993 mb

Re: Storm / Hurricane Barry
Barry now a tropical depression and off to the graveyard. He made it to hurricane strength for a grand total of about 3 hours
He certainly dropped plenty of rain though.

Re: Storm / Hurricane Barry
Interesting blog entry from Bob Henson concerning why the observed rainfall (so far) was not as great as had been expected.

Barry has now set 2 rainfall records in Arkansas. 24 hour total of 16.17 inches at Dierks and an overall 16.59 inches makes Barry number 1 for rainfall associated with cyclones/ remnants since the record begun in 1940.
