Interesting skies

Unread post by Thunder »

Hi all

Some intereting skies above Chch at the moment, not thunderous but more interesting than the past few days. The dewpoint is at 9 C and the baro has gone down to 995 hpa, it's good to have low pressure about after that high of about 1037-8hpa.

Will be good if something happens tomorrow here in Chch. Batteries are charged Tony! ;)

The cloud we now have in Chch - I think that's what you call mammatus. Light rain within the last hour, but with little wind.

I'm at home now and we've had some rain I guess, not hard or anything. There's a big thing of rain below B'sP with it being hardish towards it's western end but the rest i would say is just plain old rain.

Latest MetService forecast for Canterbury predicts a few showers in the morning. Was raining solidly (not heavily) earlier this evening, but has cleared up.
BTW, Kay also mentioned snow flurries above 500 metres near Dunedin early tomorrow - no mention of this on MetService short forecasts.

Yes, it looks like a small low developed around the south of BP this evening, hense the SW. Cleared up now with some stars above.
Might of been a different story with a NE Against it :)
