I spotted this baby just as I came out of work at 17:45, but by the time I reached a spot with a decent view (South Brighton in this case) it was out to sea. Better than missing out completely on the day I guess ... ;)
I might post a couple more later though it won't show anything more interesting.

OOh my first post!
I saw this cloud yesterday (8 Nov 11) Looking East from Ruby Bay, Tasman Bay, South Island. Im still learning a lot about weather (and i LOVE clouds) But what are these comb-over type clouds called??

looks like cirrus type..cirro stratus to the right?
i.e falling ice crystals curved by the wind
from an old CB anvil head maybe?

Oooh I just googled images of 'virga' and it seems to be a form of that, falling ice crystals, that's awesome, I've never heard of virga before, thank you!

October Cb's in the south

October 12th, Invercargill. Late afternoon thunderstorm: looking NE as Cb approaches from the NW, then 45 minutes later as it departs to the SE. Temp fall from 16C to 8C, gusty squall as the storm arrived.

Good photos there John,i was up that valley but on the other side of river in March,i couldn't believe the amount of grapes that have been planted in the last few years.
