Re: General October Weather
Yeah a few hours of light to steady rain here, Interestingly enough though reports of no rain in areas like Leeston Ashburton and Amberley.
So perhaps it's coming across in some kind of pre frontal convergence.
Wind is currently NE and fresh at times.

Re: General October Weather
After a fine morning, the sky clouded up during the afternoon and thickened later in the day with it eventually coming onto rain from 8:30pm with 7mm falling to 10pm. Mild day with the maximum being 23.2C in sunny conditions before clouding over and thickening. Light winds mainly from the NE.

Re: General October Weather
6.7°C here at the moment: I see the rain has quite a 'sprinkly' look about it which tells me it will be sleeting, or something, at a slightly higher altitude.
Very overcast, not much wind, from the southeast if any.
81% humidity; 1013.7hPa.

Re: General October Weather
Interesting to note it's been around 9C most of the morning until just after 9:30am, has since dropped to 6.2C.
It is now snowing inland from reports coming in around Methvan and Mt Somers, so we are down much lower at 400m.
Good persistent rain continues here in Cashmere, should be a heavy burst of rain around if not before lunch going by where the surface models have it increasing the Precipitation and low track.
Afternoon convergence tomorrow could lead to some heavy showers for a time too, and Monday seems on track for thunderstorms.

Curious: rain landing on west-facing window, seems to have swung round to westerly-WSW.

Re: General October Weather
Just drove from Christchurch to Pudding Hill. Moderate to heavy ish rain with lots of big puddles in paddocks and minor surface flooding. It started snowing just below 400m asl and was settling a bit at 410m. Big flakes.
This is at about 520m.

Reporting from the West Coast. It's wet. Even by locals standards. Buller River is going to cause issues later
