This is annoying matt why do you have to post bollocks on this forum there is nothing in the news in NZ or Australia about any tornados.
Also the fact you said there was a tornado in Hastings and $90million dollars worth of damage and then you post in the general weather section saying an F8 tornado
hit near Ballina and the cost was $800million dollars.
This is the kind of stuff we don't need on here
i am sure others will agree with me.
Anywho some welcome rain here today 16mm in the gauge has stopped now but looks to be falling inland from here at the moment.
Was not cold atleast on 15C and a light southerly.
Cheers
Jason.

Yeah I noticed some models are going for 80mm+ for a large area of the Northern North Island and Northern South Island over the next 7days, this rain must be most welcome in most of those areas, if not all? Forgive me for not using the regions names, though the only one I know and can spell properly is Northland.
Is it quite an unusual event to have such a trough just sit over the same area for so long? It seems they usaully just hang around for a few days before moving on, though this one doesnt want to go anywhere in a hurry.

nice summers day here,,,,been at the beach....got 70 scallops this morning dragging too
the water temperature has jumped from 18.5oC to 20oC now ....but it should be around 21 for this of year

That'd be the fohn effect of a northeasterly on the southwestern North Island. Another unusually humid day in Chch - had a brief shower just before 1pm, but I can now see blue sky to the east/southeast.A great day here...
finally we got a day we can call summer
27.1 C so far ...sweat is pouring off me
