Ireland has a huge amount of people with cell-phone/i-phone per head of population, so events like this can be captured on camera.

It would seem most Irish think they're rare, but according to Torro, Ireland averages about 9 reported and verified tornadoes per year. Most are waterspouts coming onshore (apparently most waterspouts do come onshore there). A higher number occur during the summer months, although the most severe are just as likely to occur in the winter.
